Marianne’s Bread Pudding that tastes like Creme Brulee
Ingredients
3 eggs
4 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract but I make mine with almond extract
1 cup toasted and diced stale bread
(I recommend challah bread from Publix and I just tear it into pieces)
1/4 cup butter, melted
Directions
Warm milk on the stove or microwave just a little bit. Beat in the eggs, milk, sugar, salt, and the extract.
Grease the pudding dish and put in the toasted bread. Pour custard mixture over the bread. Take the melted butter and dribble over the custard & bread.
Place pudding dish in a large pan, add enough water to the pan to come up the sides of the dish. Bake in a 350° oven for one hour or until firm.
Note***It must be the extract that gives it the Creme Brulee taste although Creme Brulee calls for Vanilla bean. This is really good stuff!!!
